It is the approval given to a research investigator by an established Institutional Review Board or Research Ethics Committee after assessing the scientific and ethical soundness of a proposed research to ensure that the rights and dignity of human and animal research participants are upheld and protected.
  1. To authenticate the research work
  2. Ensures that the research is conducted ethically.
  1. Students do not pay any fees but when they are deferred they pay GH ₵ 100 for a second review
  2. Lectures and other Ghanaian applicants pay GH¢200.00
  3. International projects or Non-Ghanaian applicants pay US$500.00

Immediately your research proposal is ready. Preferably one month to next scheduled meeting.

It may take six weeks or more depending on the accuracy of the submitted protocol and how prompt the investigators respond to queries, comments or questions from the Board.
Yes, the UCCIRB can reject, or cancel the process based on identified ethical and/or technical shortcomings with the proposed research.
